Fantastic Voyage
I have been reading Ray Kurzweil’s Fantastic Voyage just to make myself feel even worse about my physical condition. My conclusion? Someone needs to write a primer on health books. You simply cannot jump into such a dense work on longevity like FV without first checking out some information on dietary recommendations by the FDA or a number of studies on normal exercise and supplementation....

Redeye
The kind barista at Starbucks today asked me the following: “Space in your redeye for cream?” To which I responded: “I think this is the only social situation in which you can ask that question to someone you don’t know all that well.” Thanks for playing.

Avoiding MySpace →
I recently deleted my MySpace profile. The interface just drove me out of my mind for the last time. I know every social network needs to advertise to make money, but I simply cannot wrap my head around the fact that people are so willing to put up with the MySpace page layout that the site still remains the best there is to offer. There is something about making the background to a home page an...

Keyboard Jeans →
I think my girlfriend and my family would disown me if I wore these, but come on. You know you would like to try them. There is more information over on Bruce Sterling’s site (here). I do like the idea of integrating already widely used devices into a more accessible medium, but I am sure this is going a bit too far for many people. Not me though, I would try these out, with pride.

A Day Off
A day off means it is time to do a whole boat load of nothing. Grocery shop, mail the netflix back, clean the room, do laundry. Whatever you do, don’t stop and think for a moment that what you are doing is in any way repetitive. That would be just terribly depressing… Maybe a drink or four? For now, I am keeping my brain occupied with a vat of coffee and Programing the Universe. I...

Gifts
Why do we go to great lengths to inform people about how difficult it was to get a gift for someone? “You know, I had to drive all over the Eastern seaboard for this pair of underwear” I caught myself doing this just the other day. I felt compelled to explain how my purchase involved more than simply going to a store and obtaining the gift (even if that is all that was required, so...
