Hi. I'm ReRun. →
Just tried out Hi, I’m. I like the idea of a social network landing page. I suppose that is something that Facebook is trying to do on their own, but the reality is that many people use more and more social networking sites every day. If you are going to keep them all together, it is going to take some work. I think of this site as a social network business card. I like the interface. Very...

Quick, Die.
In a short Atlantic piece, Death by Uninsurance, Daniel Akst hints that in addition to reducing waste in the current healthcare system, we may find a gold mine in reduced healthcare costs by educating people further on the dangers of smoking and unhealthy diets. While he might have a point, it isn’t well backed up and the article takes a beating in the comments section: …the idea that...

Drake Equation →
bestofwikipedia: The Drake equation was devised by Dr. Frank Drake in 1960, in an attempt to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way (our galaxy) with which we might come into contact. Best current estimates for the parameters of the Drake equation result in a value of 2.31 civilizations. (via @revgeorge) If at all possible, could we please come in contact with the...

The Public Doesn't Understand the Public Plan →
Well there you have it. The issue with health care reform can be narrowed down a bit. What I am taking from this is that either the general public doesn’t care enough to understand health care reform, and just wants to scream the party line, or the current administration has done a very poor job explaining what the plan is.

Slavoj Zizek: On 9/11, New Yorkers faced the fire... →
I don’t have much in the way of remembering 9/11 beyond the usual ‘this is what I was doing’ memories. The advice is to ‘never forget.’ Never forget what? That it happened? Ok, check. Something is missing though. And so I will leave it to someone else to say something more profound about what all happened that day.

Is It Over?
Obama’s school speech extravaganza is coming to a close today. The text is freely available to all. I think some people are upset that it doesn’t call for death panels and the immediate destruction of all unborn children. Many conservatives have expressed a fear that the address would be used to push a partisan political agenda. In the text of the speech, however, Obama avoids any...
