There is a wonderful slice of heaven located not too far from where I live called Total Wine. While they have one of the worst company websites I have ever seen, they do have the best selection of beer in my area. That more than makes up for the insultingly awful site.

I like to try new beer. The problem is that I forget what I have tried…

So, in an effort to avoid forgetting beers in the future, I am going to log them. I was going to use something like Bento, and then it dawned on me how utterly useless data base programs are for someone like me. No, instead I am going to just snap a quick shot of the beer and post it right here. Hopefully some of these will be pretty damn good. The first one is fantastic.

Three Philosophers

I was excited when I found out this was from the Duvel family of Belgian beers, though if you expecting Duvel you have another thing coming. If you enjoy dark Belgian ale then you will likely enjoy this. Rather dark, sweet, I find it more enjoyable cold than closer to room temperature.

The hint of cherry is welcomed. I am usually put off by cherry in beer but that is because of the trauma inducing effect of cherry-soda Sam Adams Cherry Wheat.

At 9.8% alcohol by volume it packs a punch, as do most Belgian beers I have experienced up to this point. Excellent cold (<60F) and poured. I might venture back to this one in the future.
