The price of chasing ideology.
The price of chasing ideology.
Having not been around in the Mac developer community for long… I may not have the same ideological disappointments from Apple’s “it’s just business” mindset, but I definitely feel the uneasiness in the community…
I’ve had this uneasy feeling recently. I keep thinking that Apple is on the verge of trending toward unfavorable. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Apple products that I use. I still think they’re a great company. But with the decisions Apple has been making recently, they’re finding themselves…

This is not the first I’ve heard from developers, even the most loyal, with regard to a collective uneasiness that is brewing.
I feel this needs to be addressed much sooner, rather than later. Great software, across the very large spectrum of devices Apple now makes, will not make itself. No software company, regardless of size, can make it all themselves.

I find it interesting that the iOS has such a positive lead with regard to hardware, security and near term viability but that Android still holds long term favor.
Either developers feel stuck with Apple and are just grinning and bearing it until Android UI and hardware catches up, or they just like underdogs.
AT&T and Apple: A marriage made in hell - Jun. 16, 2010
That’s the money quote right there. I as frustrating as I am sure preordering an iPhone was for some people, they will forget about it entirely once they have the device in their hands (Assuming that making a dropped call isn’t the first thing they do..).
