ワンダーランド

I have already gone over my affinity for alleyways in Asia. I have another curious obsession as well.

I love outdoor markets that are alive at night. I am sure I’d be reading into it too much if I tried to explain why I like them so much. Suffice to say I simply do.

All of these images can be found by searching for “night market” on Flickr (best image search on the internet).

I can’t not look at this image. It is one of the best images I have ever seen on Flickr.

There are a few things I can’t seem to get over here. The obvious is that this man lives somewhere without access to medical assistance. Beyond that, however, this picture perfectly captures this mans hopelessness. He doesn’t even have a physical location to store the money it appears he is not being given…

At first glance I thought he was possibly deformed by malnourishment. On second look you realize his left arm and hand is normal. Also, his face is without deformity.

I love that he appears to be coming out of the ground as though he came from the city itself. And that somehow it is your fault.

Now I am not suggesting that it is your fault. Simply that I think you should feel guilty when you look at him. You would, if you were a good Catholic. Like me.

I am just throwing it up here because I thought it was brilliant.
