Green Catholicism

I know the quote hasn’t made mention about the primary topic of the article, which is why I included the link. Read it.

The theocons are obsessed with keeping gays marginalized and making abortion illegal. They say nothing about the Catholic view of healthcare - that it’s a human right; nothing about Catholic view of the economy - that unfettered free markets are unjust; nothing about the Catholic position on immigration - that the GOP is wrong; nothing about the Catholic position on torture - that it is an inherent and absolute evil.

If there is something I’d want my region to be known for it would be producing green energy. Clearly better than something like growing oranges…

If this sounds like a nightmare, like the Soviet communal apartments of yesteryear, it’s worth noting that this is not an unfamiliar arrangements in the annals of human history, that going green will naturally require some small sacrifice in private space, and that social isolation is a much bigger killer in modern America than overcrowding. In 1970, Americans consumed 478 square feet person. As of 2000, that number had increased to 800 square feet per person. Suffice to say, Americans did not become twice as happy over that interval.
