Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: the Ars Technica review - Ars Technica

Leave it to Ars to tell me more about Snow Leopard than I would otherwise care to know. There is a wealth of information to be found in those 25 pages if you take the time to read it. You will know more about OS 10.6 than anyone you know. Except for me, because I already read it. Unless you already knew everything in the article. In which case this wont interest you.

If the first thing that pops in your head is “wtf is Snow Leopard?” disregard this post immediately.

Should you buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard? If you’re already running Leopard, then the answer is a resounding “yes.” If you’re still running Tiger, well, then it’s probably time for a new Mac anyway. When you buy one, it’ll come with Snow Leopard.

Great, another set of keys for people to hold when they boot a machine to troubleshoot another issue. Good times all around.

Google’s Chrome browser is going to rock. For now, I really enjoy having a Mac browser that can do full screen. That’s the real reason I like it so much. You can get the latest build by clicking the link. Much better than getting the current beta release Google is throwing out there at the moment.

I guess Safari 4 really is the shit. It was the only browser I currently have installed that passed the Acid3 test without issue (it did score a 99 two out of 5 times) on my computer.

Chrome on the Mac seemed to do a good job except for failing something as simple as a link test. FireFox on the Mac has some work to do, but we all knew that already didn’t we?

Downloaded an early build of Chromium today (Google’s Chrome browser ). I like that it is really as simple as it gets. The interface is clean and the URL/Search bar being unified is brilliant. I have used it on Windows before, but there is something about the Mac version that makes it feel like it’s in the right OS.

Secondly, and on an unrelated note, that screen shot contains a great gift idea for yours truly. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more.
