I Didn’t Expect Him To Speak English

I have been following Starving African Child on Twitter for about 2 weeks and as a Catholic, I can affirm that it satisfies 15% of my RDA for guilt.

Consequently, I picked up a (red)Starbucks Card to fill up for the next few weeks. My daily coffee intake will now support some people that need medicine.

I know, I know. I could have just given $10 to some charity that worksin Africa and the money would have gone directly to a good cause. However, one of the things I enjoy about programs like (red) is that there is more to it than just donating a few cents here and there. There is something good about fundamentally changing the way you consume.

That and as a human that runs on guilt, I need to consantly look for small good deeds in my daily life.

My *$ Coffee in 1909

According to WolframAlpha, my morning redeye (8oz coffee with a shot of espresso) would have set me back less than $0.09. Isn’t inflation great?

Downloaded an early build of Chromium today (Google’s Chrome browser ). I like that it is really as simple as it gets. The interface is clean and the URL/Search bar being unified is brilliant. I have used it on Windows before, but there is something about the Mac version that makes it feel like it’s in the right OS.
Secondly, and on an unrelated note, that screen shot contains a great gift idea for yours truly. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more.

Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew instant coffee | Starbucks Coffee Company
I am currently trying out the Columbian variety of *$ new coffee. I have to admit, it’s not all that bad. In fact, it is better than the taste test I was provided at a local store, which I believe was marred by too hot watter. I am really looking forward to the extra bold at this point.

Things I Do When I Am Out Of Money

There is an obvious (at least to me) correlation between an increase in my tumblr/twitter/facebook usage and me not having very much money. I also tend to email people back with longer messages and in a shorter period of time. I also archive my mail properly in Gmail and MobileMe so that my Inboxes are clean.

The no money/being productive correlation extends into all facets of my life. I grocery shop for the week and fill my tank with gas and even put a few dollars on my Starbucks Gold card so that I can have my one tall redeye in the morning.

In short, I should probably not allow myself to have disposable income. I’d probably be in much better financial shape.

On an unrelated note, the amount of money I paid in federal taxes in 2008 is equal to 50% what I paid in every other year of my life combined. Which is nice.

Free *$

What’s better than Starbucks on your day off? Free Starbucks on your day off. I recently bought a used car. A 2004 Camry. Bonus? $4 in coin. Thanks nooks and crannies.

147xxxx

I have become enamored of 147xxxx’s tumblr. I love it not just because of her writing style or wittiness (of which there is plenty to go around) but rather because of the very cold reality of her experiences, and the almost cynically nonchalant way she absorbs them.

My girlfriend unit is a Starbucks employee herself, and I often find myself reading 147xxxx as a way to better understand how her day might have went. That kind of value isn’t easy to estimate.

I highly recommend this site. There are fewer and fewer gems in a growing sea of

While I’d enjoy the opportunity to share my thoughts on a certain fruit related computer company I happen to work for, they don’t condone that sort of behavior, and I like my job.

Redeye

The kind barista at Starbucks today asked me the following:

“Space in your redeye for cream?”

To which I responded: “I think this is the only social situation in which you can ask that question to someone you don’t know all that well.”

Thanks for playing.
